LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered that local bodies (LB) elections in Punjab be held on party basis.
PPP, PTI, PML-Q and Majlis Wahadat-e-Muslimeen had challenged the LB elections being held on non-political basis.
In the order, the LHC stated that Local Government Act 2013 section 18 was against basic human rights. According to the order, it is the provincial government’s authority to decide delimitations of local bodies.
