Karachi unrest: SC issues interim order in law, order implementation case

KARACHI: The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday issued an interim order in Karachi law and order implementation case and ordered custom officials to investigate the matter of missing 19,000 containers. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the Karachi unrest case at Karachi Registry.

In its interim order, the apex court ordered custom officials to inform how many arms containers were among the 19,000 missing containers.

The SC, in its interim order, also directed the authorities concerned to investigate about weapons coming in the port city through legal ways.

Earlier, the Supreme Court suspended SSP Investigation East, Junaid Shaikh for remaining absent.

Junaid Shaikh was due to appear in the court to present the investigation report on Shera Pathan murder case before the bench.

Shera Pathan was the member of Arshad Pappu gang.

During the proceedings, Attorney General of Pakistan Muneer A Malik informed the court that the federal government has decided to launch a joint operation against arms and drugs within 15 days.

He said the joint operation would be carried out over the reports of custom intelligence and other organizations. (GNN) (Geo) (Yoogle)
