PM terms terrorism as hurdle to economic growth

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Monday that terrorism and extremism were a hurdle to economic growth in Pakistan. Addressing the special federal cabinet meeting held here on Tuesday, Prime Minister Sharif said the country was passing through a difficult phase and it was a priority of the government to make Pakistan economically strong.

The prime minister added that corruption and poor performance was the reason for billions in losses for PIA and other institutions.

PIA incurs a loss of Rs3.3 billion monthly and the prime minister said the national flag carrier was receiving a bailout package worth billions.
